5 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO DO A GUIDED WALK OF CRADLE MOUNTAIN
If you’ve been following me on Instagram and keeping up with my Stories, then you’ll know I recently came back from an adventurous hiking trip around Cradle Mountain in Tasmania.
The amazing team at Life’s An Adventure invited me along to experience their Cradle Mountain and Jerusalem Walls 3 Day Guided Hike, knowing fully well how much I love Tasmania and how much I love hiking. So obviously, I said yes…!
The experience went above and beyond my expectations. We were able to experience hiking around Cradle Mountain without having to undertake an arduous six day walking experience with packs. We saw Crater Lake, Lake Lila and a couple of us even made it to the top of Cradle Mountain Summit with one of our Guides.
Unfortunately, due to flooding we were unable to make it into the stunning Walls of Jerusalem National Park but Life’s An Adventure organised a helicopter to take is to Black Bluff and walk our way out. It was incredible. These guys do small group walking tours very, very well. Read on to find out why.
THE GUIDES ARE INCREDIBLE
Without a doubt the biggest difference about hiking on your own hiking with a Guide, is that a Guide is on hand to show you the best of the experience without all the hard work of trying to figure it out on your own. We didn’t have to worry about packing heavy bags, we didn’t have to worry about preparing food, and we didn’t have to worry about getting lost. Our Guides were also proudly 100% Tasmanian who had a wonderful sense of humour and a vast knowledge of the Tasmanian wilderness, which only made the experience even more enjoyable.
YOU MEET LIKEMINDED PEOPLE
What I loved so much about Life’s An Adventure is that they only offer small group walking tours, which means you get the opportunity to meet likeminded people and get to know their stories – who they are, where they’ve come from and where they’re going. My group was joined by four mothers who live in various cities around Australia and do an annual girls’ trip each year, as well as an older couple who put us to shame with their fitness and gusto.
HIKING IS AN EPIC ADVENUTRE
Hiking in the middle of the wilderness is truly one of the most magical experiences you’ll ever have. As long as you are prepared and pack the right hiking gear! Coupled with being spoilt with fine local produce and the best hand-picked accommodation, a guided small group tour with Life’s An Adventure is an epic experience.
YOU LEARN ABOUT THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT
As the Guides are Tasmanian, they know tonnes about the local flora and fauna, which is important because there’s no point hiking if you don’t learn about the environment around you. We were shown beautiful birds and birds of prey, nocturnal animals tracks, learned about wombat habitats, as well as a whole host of plant species. It made the experience even more special and meaningful, and we all felt we had learned something each day.
THE EXPERIENCE IS LIFE CHANGING
With so much loud noise contributing from work commitments, social media and personal expectations, it’s no surprise people are starting to look for difference adventures on their holidays – you know, choosing to experience the wilderness instead of pounding the pavement in an undiscovered city. So it’s no surprise for me that a Guided hike in the wilderness is a life changing experience; I urge you to book one yourself for your next holiday! It’s utterly rewarding and even more so if it’s run by an eco-friendly company, such as Life’s An Adventure.
