7 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO STAY AT CENTARA BLUE MARINE RESORT PHUKET, THAILAND
I love arriving at a hotel at night not knowing what everything really looks like, only to pull my bedroom curtains open in the morning and see an incredible view. This is exactly what happened when I arrived at Centara Blue Marine Resort in Phuket yesterday. I was really tired after a long journey and didn’t arrive at the hotel till 2am local time, but I wasn’t going to let a four hour sleep deter me from getting up early to see what was just outside.
When I pulled the curtains open I was greeted with a panoramic view of the glistening azure blue Andaman Sea, the sandy shore of Patong Beach, a smattering fluffy pink clouds and a balmy temperature of 27 degrees. Sydney has been quite cold and rainy lately so I welcomed the change in climate with open arms and a huge smile.
With 266 rooms, suites and villas, Centara Blue Marine Resort is perfect for couples, families and friends. But rather I tell you how amazing this place is, I thought I would give you seven reasons why you need to stay at Centara Blue Marine Resort Phuket!
FOR THE VIEW Set on the cliff at the quiet northern end of Patong Beach and across from Kalim Beach, Centara Blue Marine Resort has a dazzling view of the Andaman Sea and is backed by a lush green forest.
FOR THE SWIMMING POOLS I’m all about swimming pools when I go on holidays. It’s one of the main deciding factors when I choose somewhere to stay, especially when you know the local beaches tend to get quite crowded. Centara Blue Marine Resort has three outdoor swimming pools and two for the kids. Luckily for me, the sliding glass doors in my room lead to one of the quieter pools surrounded by palm trees and bird of paradise taller than the various hotel buildings!
FOR THE SUNRISE I know, I know. You’re supposed to sleep in on your holidays, right? Nup! Sunrise is the best time of the day so why would you want to spend that time lying in bed and potentially missing one of the prettiest sunrises you’ll ever see. Now I’m not saying you should wake up with the birds every morning, but do try it at least once or twice. The view at Centara Blue Marine Resort is priceless.
FOR THE LOCAL PEOPLE Thai people have to be some of the most genuine, kind and welcoming I’ve met on my travels. Just this afternoon I was in my room and one of the hotel staff knocked on my door to see if my room needed cleaning. I let her know that my room didn’t need cleaning and my bed didn’t need to be made but I asked for a couple of fresh towels. As she was getting some towels, I jumped in the pool to cool off and when I came back she had tidied my room and made my bed. What a sweetheart! Centara Blue Marine Resort also has a program where they employ local disadvantaged youth, giving them essential employment experience. I met a couple of the kids on the program and they were so kindhearted and very happy!
FOR THE LOCATION Centara Blue Marine Resort is perfectly tucked on a hill at the quiet northern end of Patong Beach and across from Kalim Beach. It’s therefore away from the touristy hustle and bustle of Patong but close enough if you want to walk in to check out the restaurants and nightlife.
FOR THE FOOD I know most hotels and resorts these days need to cater their menus to suit a variety of tastes because lets face it, sometimes its nice to eat something that reminds you of home. However I prefer to get stuck into the local cuisine at every opportunity I get. The local Thai food at Centara Blue Marine Resort is heavenly! I highly recommend the duck red curry with pineapple and the yellow coconut curry with prawns – delish! The red curry was so spicy it made me sneeze, YUM.
FOR THE SPA There really is nothing like a two hour spa treatment to help you switch off and properly enjoy your holiday. The spa at Centara Blue Marine Resort is first class all the way and for approximately AUD $100 I highly recommend you treat yourself to a full body massage and facial.
